Tiki-Taka time for the gunners

By Justus Rotich.

Tik tak tik tak... Is time on or off the gunner’s side? It remains to be seen as the Champions League draws in closer and no clear winter signings so far. Maybe, just maybe this is the season for a trophy-debut in the emirates trophy cabinet. It is never over till it is really over, as Sagna puts it: "in football anything can happen." Tuesday, February 19, 2013 a UCL-date it is and if all goes well, the gunners missing puzzle in midfield, Mikel Arteta, will be up and running all over as we clash with Bundesliga 2011/12 season runners up, Bayern Munich. Good news is how Wenger is much more careful with how handles Diaby due to his injury prone nature.

The missing puzzle is none other than the ex-Everton play-maker Mikel Arteta. So full of experience and confidence to a point he leaves us agonizing his absence in midfield. Arteta blends well with both Wilshere and Santi. The introduction of the long-legged Diaby, assuming he holds his end of consistency, I say Arsenal will be a nightmare for Bayern to handle. I cannot wait to see how all this goes down especially our home result against them. My message to the boss, work on the home form and bring back our home fans, do that and I can assure him of a top four finish and a progress in the UCL.

Back to the winter transfer window, I think we desperately require a holding midfielder and a lethal striker probably from within the EPL. It is not an option but should be an obligation on the board to bring in fresh blood to the dressing room. The current players' attitude and confidence is down to pitch results, especially from our home encounters where opponents gain dominance and points against us. Home games always come to decide a team’s position in the EPL at some point in the season. Our home form is definitely poor since we moved to the emirates and Wenger has never found a solution to that. What happened to the giant killers we once were? Our lack of trophies I can see it is down to our home form where we have lost to big teams like Chelsea.

Just to check on a few players worth a mention due to their improved form or rather working an extra mile to impress the emirates faithful plus the coach includes the likes of Ramsey, Podolski, Giroud just to name a few. Generally our team lacks consistency; we play midweek games and get trashed in the weekend games. Attitude is also one thing I have come to realize we at times lack in some games where we play like we are 3 goals up yet actually we are worse.

Ramsey is burning the midnight oil to show reason why a new Defensive midfielder is not of need, this being evident by his performance against the hammers. Podolski on the other side is more of a complete and lethal player whenever he gets a chance to surge forward leaving the gunner faithful to wish and hope that if only they had 5 Podolskis then... Giroud. Giroud... I love this type of player, a player gets things done when least expected to, his physique in the air is almost perfect and what he desperately need is a link up player upfront with almost the same characteristics. He does not gel up with Theo well because for one Theo rarely wins aerial battles not forgetting he still is new to the new role of a centre forward.

All said, I can bet on a top 4 come end of 2012/13 season, fingers crossed.
