A Bould Statement

By Shaun Weller.

Today we faced our first real test of the season. Liverpool at Anfield. A huge fixture for both clubs and a chance to prove to fans the quality that we have. We didn't fail in this opportunity. We played phenomenal, cutting Liverpool right open with numerous moves. Our attack looked fluent and we 'finally' scored goals. Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla both grabbed their first goals for the club and had excellent games along with the likes of Abou Diaby, and the whole back four in fairness. We never looked as if we were in any danger, the defence was faultless and we managed to keep another clean sheet retaining the accolade of being the only club in the league to have conceded nothing this season. 3 games have passed and we still look great defensively, compared to last season, 3 games into the league we had conceded 10 goals so it is evident that we have improved drastically within defence. This result was indeed a result in which was needed. Many fans (including myself) were unhappy due to no further signings coming in before deadline day, if we had lost to Liverpool everyone would have gone berserk, so thankfully we got a well deserved result.

It looks as though scoring has given our squad a huge boost as the performance became even better after we found the initial goal. The squad looked great, going forward we were fluent and coming back we were organised which is a great pleasure to see and is something we've lacked in passed years. Spirits look high and I believe the squad have got what it takes to go far this season and hopefully end our frustrating trophy drought. I won't go in to depth about Steve Bould again this week as I touched on that before but it is evident that he has had a massive impact as our squad looks organised and very tough to break down. I hope we carry on this good form and take the confidence into the next game. I think I speak for all fans when I say, Ooh to be a Gooner.
