Pep to Arsenal: Bayern boss in pole position to be the next Arsenal manager

On being questioned on his future, Pep refused to answer but indicated an announcement would soon follow. We understand that Pep has already told Bayern he will leave the club. His family in Spain says it is no secret that the Bayern boss has always appreciated the philosophy of Arsenal FC and would love to manage the club. Arsenal is his first choice and he is happy to wait out until Arsene Wenger retires, which we understand is 2017.

Pep Guardiola has led Bayern to two titles since taking over in 2013 but his contract expires in June. The 44-year old Spaniard has had a long history with Arsenal. He admires Arsene Wenger and as a player, he had a desire to play for Arsenal under Arsene Wenger:

"He wanted to play with me as a coach. He wanted to play for Arsenal. I met him, he was 30-31 back then. I can't really remember, after that he went to Italy and I had players like (Patrick) Vieira and (Emmanuel) Petit who were still young and played for the national team as well." - Arsene Wenger
Arsene Wenger also admires Pep Guardiola as a coach:

"He has a positive mentality and a positive attitude towards football. That is why he adapted very well to Bayern - he is a great coach." - Arsene Wenger

Even though Pep wants to be the Arsenal manager, Manchester City have tried to contact Pep and are serious about offering him a deal. The final decision will be made by Pep himself, considering how Arsenal react to his interest.

    1. They still can't confirm it because Arsenal will have the final say in this. They can only tell us what Pep wants.
